Pronghorns Punch Ticket to Region IX Tournament
The Gillette College Volleyball team secured its spot in the Region IX Tournament after a hard-fought four-set win over Eastern Wyoming College on Saturday.
Freshman outside hitter Taylen Yardley led the Pronghorns' offense with 14 kills, powering Gillette to key points throughout the match. Local standout Payge Riedesel, a sophomore from Gillette, recorded an impressive double-double with 12 kills and 18 digs, providing energy on both sides of the net.
Defensively, Paige Rose anchored the back row with 20 digs, while sophomore Josie Overson made her presence felt at the net, contributing five blocks to slow down the Lancers' attack.
With the win, the Pronghorns officially clinched their berth in the Region IX Tournament, continuing a strong season of growth and grit. Gillette will open regional play at 7 p.m. against nationally ranked No. 4 Northeastern Junior College (NJC).
