Gillette College Rodeo Sends Men’s & Women’s Team to CNFR
The Gillette College rodeo team has been on fire, showcasing their talent and dedication in the arena during the 2023 and 2024 season. As the central Rocky Mountain region of college rodeo came to a close, Gillette College's men's team secured an impressive second-place finish, trailing only behind the University of Wyoming. Not to be outdone, the women's rodeo team dominated, clinching the regional victory with a commanding lead nearly 1000 points ahead of the University of Wyoming.
Gillette, WY, June 1, 2024 - The Gillette College rodeo team has been on fire, showcasing their talent and dedication in the arena during the 2023 and 2024 season. As the central Rocky Mountain region of college rodeo came to a close, Gillette College's men's team secured an impressive second-place finish, trailing only behind the University of Wyoming. Not to be outdone, the women's rodeo team dominated, clinching the regional victory with a commanding lead nearly 1000 points ahead of the University of Wyoming.
The individual championship spotlight shone brightly on Gillette College's student-athletes. Thayne Elshere claimed the men's all-around title, men's rookie of the year, and bull riding event championship. Haiden Thompson secured the women's all-around title, while dominating the region and claiming the goat tying title, as well. Weston Mills (UW) and Gillette College's Coy Johnson brought home the regional team roping saddle, while teammate Cooper Filipek rose to the top of the bareback riding. Ty Moser finished the season as the reserve tie-down champion, Haiden Thompson claimed third place in barrel racing, with Ashlyn Goven secured a respectable fourth place in the same event.
Looking ahead to the CNFR 2024 scheduled from June 8 to June 15, Gillette College is poised to make a strong impact with nine contestants competing across 11 events. The team's well-rounded talent and exceptional individual performances position them as formidable contenders for the national championship.
