Gillette College is proud to announce the signing of Roany Proffit, an accomplished rodeo competitor and multi-sport athlete from Kemmerer High School, to its rodeo team.
A standout in the arena and on the mat, Proffit brings a legacy of excellence with him. He is a four-time Wyoming state wrestling champion, a two-time team state champion, and a state runner-up in bareback riding. He also earned All-Conference honors as a football player. His background as a great wrestler aligns well with his goals as a bareback rider, giving him many similarities to the early stages of Coach Marvin Garrett's highly successful career.
Proffit has maintained a 3.5 GPA and was a three-year honor roll recipient. He plans to work on a degree in Precision Agriculture at Gillette College, aligning his academic interests with his passion for rural life and innovation in agriculture.
"I chose Gillette College because of the winning atmosphere on the rodeo team," Proffit said. "Everyone pitches in to help each other out."
The Gillette College Rodeo Team continues to be a powerhouse in collegiate rodeo, and Proffit's work ethic, team-first mentality, and competitive background make him a valuable addition to the program.
