Gillette College Rodeo continues to elevate its 2026 recruiting class with the addition of Sern Weishaar, a proven winner out of Belle Fourche who brings consistency, versatility, and a track record of success on the national stage.
Gillette College Rodeo has announced the addition of Sern Weishaar to its 2026 recruiting class, bringing in a proven competitor with success at both the state and national level.
A native of Belle Fourche, Weishaar has established himself as one of the top young ropers in the region. He is a two-time South Dakota High School State Champion Heeler and earned a Top 5 finish nationally in 2024, highlighting his ability to perform against elite competition.
Weishaar competes in both calf roping and team roping, and is a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the United States Team Roping Championships. His experience across multiple associations adds depth and versatility to the Pronghorn roster.
In addition to his success in the arena, Weishaar has excelled academically, maintaining a 3.6 GPA and earning Honor Roll recognition at Belle Fourche High School. He plans to pursue a degree in Business while attending Gillette College.
"Coach LaDuke and I have had our eye on Sern for several years now," Coach Casey Rae said. "He's a competitor, plain and simple. He knows how to win, and he's been doing it at every level. He's going to be a great fit for our program and the culture we've built."
Weishaar cited the relationships he's built within the program, along with the facilities and coaching staff, as key factors in his decision to join Gillette College.
With his competitive background and work ethic, Weishaar is expected to make an immediate impact for the Pronghorns as they continue to build toward the future.
