Pronghorn Rodeo Signs Wyoming Roper Hays Espenscheid
Built on a strong team roping background and Wyoming roots, Hays Espenscheid is the latest addition to the Gillette College Rodeo program as the Pronghorns continue to shape their 2026 roster.
Gillette College Rodeo has announced the addition of Hays Espenscheid to its 2026 recruiting class, continuing to build depth and competitiveness across the Pronghorn lineup.
Espenscheid comes from a strong team roping background, raised in a well-established Wyoming family with deep roots in the sport. That foundation has helped shape his understanding of competition, consistency, and what it takes to succeed in the arena.
"We're excited about Hays and what he brings to our team," Head Coach Casey Rae said. "He comes from a great team roping family here in Wyoming, and that shows in the way he competes. I think he and Bodie Mattson will really click, and that's going to help him take that next step and find another level of competitive excellence."
Espenscheid brings a mindset that fits seamlessly into the culture of the Gillette College Rodeo program. He has continued to develop each season and is the type of athlete who embraces the process and looks to improve.
In addition to his work in the arena, Espenscheid plans to pursue his academic goals while competing for the Pronghorns, adding to the program's emphasis on developing well-rounded student-athletes.
Espenscheid chose Gillette College because of the people, the program, and the opportunity to continue developing at a high level.
With his background, attitude, and drive, Espenscheid is expected to make a strong impact as Gillette College Rodeo looks ahead to the 2026 season.
