Harris Signs with Gillette College Rodeo
Gillette College Rodeo is excited to announce the signing of Jase Harris, a bareback rider from Duchesne, Utah.
Harris, a 2026 graduate of Duchesne High School, will join the Pronghorns after making an impression on Gillette College Rough Stock Coach Marvin Garrett during a rough stock school held in Gillette. His toughness, attitude, and willingness to learn stood out, and that connection helped bring Harris to the Pronghorn program.
A Utah High School Rodeo Association member, Harris competed in bareback riding throughout high school rodeo and qualified for the Utah High School Rodeo State Finals. He is also a member of the Wasatch Rodeo Team and is known for his work ethic, commitment to the sport, and willingness to help with stock and arena work when needed.
For Harris, rodeo has always been tied to the people around him.
"I got into rodeo because of both my friends and family," Harris said. "Growing up around it and being around people who loved the sport made me want to be a part of it too."
Once he started, the sport quickly became something more.
"I fell in love with the challenge, hard work, and lifestyle that comes with rodeo," Harris said.
Harris also competed in wrestling, a background that fits well with the toughness and body control needed in the bareback riding. In the classroom, he earned Honor Roll recognition, carries a 3.162 GPA, and plans to study Welding at Gillette College.
When asked why he chose Gillette College, Harris said the combination of rodeo and hands-on career training made the decision feel right.
"I chose Gillette College because it gives me the opportunity to continue competing in rodeo at the collegiate level while also pursuing a career in welding," Harris said. "I felt like Gillette College was the right place for me to grow both as a student and as a rodeo athlete while preparing for my future."
Gillette College Head Rodeo Coach Casey Sellers said Harris is a strong fit for the rough stock side of the program.
"Jase is one of those kids who caught Coach Marvin Garrett's attention because of the way he showed up and handled himself," Sellers said. "He came to a rough stock school here, took coaching, worked hard, and showed that he wanted to get better. That means a lot in the bareback riding. We are excited to add him to our rough stock team and help him keep building."
Harris will join the Pronghorns in the fall of 2026.
