Bio
Bodie Mattson, grew up in Deadwood/ Sturgis , SD area to parents Melinda and Jay Mattson. Bodie was recruited by close family friend and former head coach Will LaDuke to attend Gillette College out of high school. He competed for the Pronghorns for two years while earning an Associates degree in business and competing both years at the CNFR. Following his two years at Gillette, he transferred to the University of Wyoming through a rodeo scholarship to pursue a Bachelor’s in Marketing and Management, and later on a Masters in Business Administration. He qualified three years to the CNFR and won three individual regional titles along the way for the Cowboys.
When the opportunity presented itself to return to Gillette and give back to the community and rodeo team that gave him so much, he signed on to return at the Assistant coach of the Pronghorns in the spring of 2026. Bodie bought his PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) card in 2020 and continues to compete professionally to this date. He has achieved success at the highest level in the PRCA winning multiple Badlands Circuit All Around, Team Roping and Calf Roping titles along with 3 NFR open titles in those disciplines.
