Gillette College’s Liz Lewis Inducted into Churchill County High School Hall of Fame
The Gillette College athletics department is proud to recognize women's basketball head coach Liz Lewis, who was inducted into the Churchill County High School Hall of Fame this past weekend in Fallon, Nevada.
Lewis was a four-sport standout for the Greenwave, lettering in volleyball, softball, soccer, and basketball. On the hardwood, she earned All-Conference and All-State honors during her junior and senior seasons and was named the Lahontan Valley News Female Athlete of the Year in 2005.
Her playing career continued at Dixie State University and later at Rocky Mountain College, where she quickly became one of the program's top performers. Lewis ranks among RMC's all-time leaders in assists and three-pointers, was a two-time First Team All-Frontier Conference selection, and earned both Team MVP and Academic All-Conference honors. She also received the prestigious Arthur and Linda DeRosier Female Athlete of the Year Award before graduating with a degree in Physical Education and Health, Exercise Science. She later earned her master's in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University.
Lewis's coaching career has been just as impactful. She built strong, nationally recognized academic programs at Miles Community College and later led Dickinson State University's women's basketball program. Since joining the Pronghorns, she has guided Gillette College to national rankings and coached seven All-Conference players, three All-Defensive Team selections, and two All-Americans, including the first NJCAA First Team All-American in school history.
Her induction into the Churchill County High School Hall of Fame is a reflection of both her playing career and her lasting influence as a coach. Gillette College congratulates Coach Lewis on this outstanding achievement.
