Gillette, WY — April 2026 — The Gillette College women's basketball program is excited to announce the signing of Emily Tanira, a 6'0" small forward from Auckland, New Zealand.
Tanira brings scoring ability, length, and a confident offensive presence to the Pronghorns. A product of Mount Albert Grammar School, Emily earned MVP honors at both Manurewa High School (2023–2024) and Mount Albert Grammar (2025), highlighting her consistency and impact across multiple programs. She also contributed to team success, helping lead Manurewa High School to back-to-back Auckland Championships and guiding Mount Albert Grammar to a top-six finish at the national tournament.
Off the court, Emily has demonstrated dedication to her academics, earning a Year 13 Merit Endorsement along with Merit recognition in Photography and Media Studies.
Emily shared why she chose Gillette College:
"I choose Gillette College because I believe that the school and coaches will not only help further develop my basketball abilities but also challenge me on and off the court positively. The genuine support for my future goals in basketball as well as my academics was evident from the very first call I had with the Coaches. These factors lead me to the decision that Gillette was the ideal College for my basketball journey."
The Pronghorns are excited to add Emily Tanira and look forward to the scoring ability and size she will bring to the lineup.
